Hiking/backwoods!fic will forever be my favorite genre to ever genre, so this was an absolute pleasure! I'm so happy to have this, especially when canon doesn't often make those trips. :P (Hard to film? What?? XD) And the scenario is made all the more poignant/heart-rending when you consider what these circumstances and their attendant emotions spiral into all too soon. Even if what happens here sets them on a slightly different path than the actual S8/S9, well. You Will Always End Up here, you know?
Oh, I love Season 8, and I especially love poor debilitated late Season 8 Sam! This was so believable - Sam insisting, puppy dog eyes on full blast, and Dean relenting...and then it all going to hell once they got out there in the mountains. I was rather relieved the Wendigo didn't show up to torment them, and quite thankful that there was phone signal and the paramedics were prompt. :) Jeez, poor Sam. You really beat him up!
You can't beat a little (or a lot!!) of h/c! I enjoyed this fic.
I liked the timeline choice, with Sam sick from the trials and how you explored the repercussions this has while on a hunt. And I liked how Sam persuaded Dean to go on a hunt - those puppy eyes really are irresistible!
This was absolutely amazing. Thank you for writing this! ^^ Dean would totally cave under the puppy dog eyes, and Sammy being stubborn as heck every minute was just perfect. You kept them totally in character and it's definitely hard to do that. I loved it!
I was on the edge of my seat when Sam started falling over the edge towards the ravine. I may or may not have made an inhuman noise, but oh well. I adore Sammy.
Dean's worry, panic, everything was just spot on. I like how he just started ranting once Sam had awoken because s8 Dean would totally do that! :D Great job there!
The medical info sounded pretty legit. I'm impressed. I know how hard it can be to write it so I really really liked it!
