This is beautiful. So insightful without even really be specific in the literal sense. I hope you write more to this. I'd love to see Sam's reaction when Dean gets back!

This was great! I liked the metaphor a lot. And that's not something everyone notices about Sam's character, the way he holds onto things. You'd think that was more Dean, but you're right-- that's Sam.
