Love Dean's remark about being a "junior expert"! So very Dean. :)

He figures that it's sort of like how merit badges work in the Scouts. Not that he's ever been a scout, mind, but he'd totally be awesome at that too, if he was.

Thank you!

There's something about teaching!fic that really pings my heartstrings. (Possibly latent feelings from 3x07, and also Dean's mention of Sam needing to know how to protect himself early in this fic.) There's something about that juxtaposition between teaching your younger brother a cool new trick, and the real, incumbent danger that provokes the lesson, that's just heartbreaking. And I adore Sam in this, too; him being annoyed at Dean's teasing when he's trying to learn paired up with his real desire to learn--importantly, to learn from Dean. Really lovely take. Thank you for writing!

Weechester training makes me smile even as it makes me sad - the whole concept is tragically bittersweet. I think Dean would have made a good teacher though, despite (or perhaps because of) all the brotherly pain-in-the-ass-ness. Sam's definitely inspired either way.

Thank you for a lovely comment! I'm so glad that you enjoyed!

The boys' banter was very believable. Good use of dialogue

Thank you! I'm continually amazed by Dean's ability to talk so much without actually saying anything. Makes for plenty of potential for brotherly bonding, such as it is.

I'm glad you enjoyed! ^_^

Loved this! Great characterization, and the dialogue was really reflective of that. I especially loved this:

"Maybe if you show me instead of being a big jerk I'd do better," Sam snapped.

"Where's the fun in that? Try again."

So Dean! He's been the same forever. And Sam, too. I loved the line about his Zen concentration, too. WEECHESTERS FTW. Great job!

Weechesters = all the win

Dean's (mostly) indefatigable Dean-ness is one of the things that I love most about him. I suspect that there wasn't much that got him down for long when he was this age. And we all know that Sam's always been an overachiever.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed!

I love this. We know that Dean took care of Sam and taught him the things that his dad should have. It nice to have this peek to see how they became the men we love. Thanks author!

*nods* I feel like Dean probably spent a lot of time filling in for an absent John during Sam's childhood. Before Sam became a hormonal teenager who hated everything, they both probably enjoyed it, too, for the most part.

You're very welcome! Thank you for such a cute prompt!
