I *love* this! Stanford-era fic is just a balancing act... keeping the two years where they didn't speak to each other, and yet having them still have the bond that means that Dean would come to Sam for help, and Sam would go with him.

This makes sense: poignant and perfect!

Oh! This breaks my heart - so much love, so much getting it wrong... and *such* a good job capturing that on both sides. Great Dean voice, and Sam, too...

Those years must have been like balancing on a knife edge especially for Dean and this fic is beautifully done. I like how Sam is at once selfish and sympathetic, and his sense of having lost something precious to him in leaving Dean is very tangible.

This is wonderful! I like the idea that Sam went on a bender once in a while during college and fell back onto hustling. I also quite enjoyed the way you alternated the story, it flowed nicely.

This fic is rife with so many evocative insights and turns of phrase, ugh. It's deceptively heartbreaking when you consider what happens after that last scene, Sam's little desires, what Dean must be thinking about all of this. I'm especially smitten with the line about Sam playing pool with none of Dean's style, his rage against pretension, his little references and tics he's taken into himself from Dean. And this line: And just like that Dean loses the high ground, slips down so fast his head spins. Great fic; I really enjoyed reading this!
