I'm a warm and loving person, dedicated to my family and friends, generally optimistic and hopeful with occassional dark times of doubt and fear. I'm wildly independent and picky about the company I keep, but once I find someone, they are Mine and that's the end of it. My People are the center of my world and nobody gets to touch them. I'm protective and possessive and have a vicious side to my otherwise easygoing personality that can be scary for people who've never seen it before. I don't trust easily but people seem to trust me easily. Kindness and compassion are important to me, and I have a gentle and persistent sense of humor. I'd never imagine harming someone unless they hurt me or My People first -- then all bets are off. I'm nosy as all hell and love to know things before anyone else. I don't like being laughed at -- laughing with me is fine -- and I have a hard time taking criticism impersonally. In short, I'm one of those sweet-natured people who gets on with anybody but isn't a pushover, either.

Likes [hobbies, fandoms and general]: I'm a herpetoculturist, meaning I own seven snakes and two lizards and spend a lot of time playing with them and reading about how to better care for them. I'm active in a number of online clickable adoption sites and love college football. I spend a lot of free time reading and writing. I love flowers, natural beauty in general, fast cars and movies with lots of explosions and giant robots (ie, Transformers). Dinosaurs and zombies are also good.
Dislikes: Long meetings! I'm a reporter and spend a lot of time in long, boring meetings listening to people argue. I also loathe cruelty and apathy.
Strengths/Talents: I'm a strong writer, a stubborn reporter, I go out of my way to help others and I give great advice. (Unfortunately, I suck at taking my own advice.)
Fears: Failing the people I care about is the big one, but being made fun of is another. Accidentally hurting someone. Being ineffective. Losing my job, being unable to pay my bills. Being stuck in a rut for the rest of my life. Ugh, I think I'd die.

Place: New Orleans. Lived there for a year and it was...an experience. Pure magic.
