A member of the crew has asked for MORE CARDS!
It is THE DAY! The day that Supernatural returns to our television sets with shiny new episodes for season 3! For the next few weeks, we the mods would like to request that all of you send a simple postcard to the cast & crew of Supernatural welcoming them back to our T.V. screens -- you can wish them well on season 3, thank them for all their hard work, or even just wish them a very scary Hallowe'en (yes LJ, it IS spelled that way!).
Once you have sent your postcard, please respond to this post with "sent" or something similar; we like to keep a running total of cards sent to gage community participation. I'll be setting up a post this weekend where you can comment with scans of your homemade or store bought cards, so that you can share your Photoshop or shopping skillz with the community.
If you would like more information about this campaign or have any questions, just comment to this post or e-mail me at deathisyourart (at) livejournal (dot) com.
FALL
Why: Hallowe'en & Season Premiere
When: October 3nd to October 31st
To wish everyone on set a Happy Hallowe'en, to tell them how much we enjoyed the premiere for season 3, and to show support leading into November sweeps.

Things of note:
1) Sources inside the studio have informed us that they really like funny or original postcards, so we encourage you to make your own cards if you can. Heavy card stock in the dimensions of 4.25"x6" or 6"x8" are treated the same as store bought cards.
2) Please remember to be POLITE and RESPECTFUL; these cards are being sent to a place of business after all.
3) To send a postcard from the states into Canada the cost is now 69 cents, and sending postcards within Canada is 52 cents. If you are from a country other than the United States or Canada, please check with your local post-office for prices.
4) If you would like to see pictures of our cards in the studio offices last year, then check out
THIS POST by TV blogger
raelee who was invited to the set for bloggers day last season.
Kripke has expressed in more than one interview that Supernatural was dangerously close to not being renewed at the end of last season, and with The Office moving to Thursdays at 9pm, the show has even more competition for ratings this season. One of the things that can be done to help keep the show on the air is to make the advertisers -- the people/companies that pay all the bills -- aware that their ads are being seen, and that we the viewers appreciate their support of our show. During the months of November (during fall sweeps) and March (directly after February sweeps) I would like to ask that anyone who wants to show their support for the show to send cards/postcard to one or multiple advertisers with a brief thank you message.
There will be more information on this at a later date, but in the mean time I need volunteers (in the U.S. and Canada especially) to write down what commercials air during this season's episodes, and then to e-mail them to me along with your state/province and the channel on which you watched the show. I will be compiling addresses for the advertisers, so please don't concern yourself with that.
If you would like to know where this idea came from, then please see this article here:
http://heywriterboy.blogspot.com/2007/07/emily-posts-guide-to-save-our-show.html.
It is written by a blogger Emily Post, and point number 5 in the guide is what we are aiming for here. I do want to make it clear that this community is not going to turn into a "Save our Show" location. We all love the show, but this community is for postcards with positive messages, and that is all. If you would like to be pointed in the direction of communities or websites that are doing more then just ask; I will be happy to provide a few links.
A special thanks to
hanncoll for discussing this idea with me all summer.
