I say old clunker pickup. But if you want to know the canon, I don't know that they've told us anywhere...

Though knowing Kripke's taste in cars, it's probably actually something AWESOME.

I also think Ellen be a pickup truck kind of gal, probably a 4-wheel drive. It could get around even in the nastiest Nebraska winter, she could haul all sorts of stuff for the Roadhouse, from cases of booze to cases of toilet paper, she could hook a little trailer up for cleaning up and throwing out stuff around the property, and it would be just butch enough to suit her personality. :-)

Now, it may or may not be a clunker - perhaps she drives something macho and shiny like John's truck. I could really see Ellen behind the wheel of a big Dodge 4x4 with a Cummins diesel engine and the full tow package, good suspension and a black bed liner in the back to protect the paint. And a toolbox in the back. For tools. Including those that come in .45 and .357, lol! *G*
Cheers ~

I'd like to think Bobby and the boys may have given her John's pickup. Barring that, definitely some other pickup.

Direct quote from Samantha Ferris on her blog. She answered a few questions back on Halloween.

1. What car would Ellen drive? Personally, I think one of the old GMC Jimmy's.....those big ole suburban types...with the faux wood panelling on the side.....but completely redone in sparkling white..lotsa shiny chrome...leather interior.....kick ass stereo.....otherworldly engine. She'd have a name....just don't know what it is yet....kripke liked the idea.

I don't think we've ever seen it, but, given who she is and what she does-It might be a pickup with a cab or an older style of 4WD vehicle, like the Jimmy or Suburban. It was probably Bill's too, and he would have needed the 4wd and the clearance for hunting, they would both need covered space for hauling stuff (and to stretch out to sleep in at need). They would have also needed the more powerful engine- as the isolated Roadhouse owners, they'll probably get tapped to pull folks out of the ditch or snow from time to time ( ... )
