Summary: Fifty years after the events of the Perish Twice series, Sam dies and is reunited with Lucifer. Sam's memories of their time together return to him, and he is faced with a decision: stay with Lucifer or go to Heaven.
Author's Note: For ladyeternal, who was the first to ask for a reunion scene and planted the idea in my mind, and for everyone who wanted an actual, resolution-type ending to this series. As is the case with all the previous chapters, the cut text is taken from a Robert Frost poem ("A Boundless Moment"); the title is stolen from another great Robert - Heinlein, to be precise.
We stood a moment so in a strange world,
myself as one his own pretense deceives;
