Who's Hurting Sam or Jared Lately?

• harrigan says "I've only been able to read one fic in a long time, but of course it was a hurt!Sam one". We know where she's coming from. *g*. That story is Disarmed by quickreaver. Summary: Missing scene. Dean's a day into being human again ... so far so good. Now, Sam can melt. harrigan says, "The author had me at her warnings: "Season 10, serious injury, swearing, worshiping the porcelain god". ;D How many of us wished the show had spent a little more time on Sam's arm in a sling when this season opened? Your wish is granted here, by an author who always hits the spot just right. The relationship between Sam and Dean here is perfect". Ash48 seconds this rec.


• cherry916 enjoyed A Day at Plucky's by dean_hugs_sammy. Summary: What happened all those years ago that made Sam so afraid of clowns? Tag to 7x14. Dean is 17, Sam is 12. She says, "This is a good look at how Sam developed his clown phobia. I like how the author writes how psychologically damaged Sam is by his experience and Dean's guilt after the fact."


• ayane42 has read two fics from the sammybigbang and loved them. The first one is This Kid's Not Alright by safiyabat. Summary: What exactly did Sam get up to at Bobby's while Dean was at Sonny's? When John makes a very odd request of the older hunter, Bobby takes the boy into his home for a few months. It isn't an easy time for either of them. She says, "This was such a great story!! 12 year old Sammy, stuck at Bobby's house while Dean is "missing", full of angst and suppressed anger. A really great story about what Sam had to go through".
• Her second recommendation from the challenge is Children's Crusade (Tommorrow Never Comes) by Yet Intrepid. Summary: Everything changes when Dad knocks on the door. Dean changes, most of all, and Sam hates that. He wants them staying safe in Blue Earth with his soccer ball, Dean’s essay on Vonnegut, and the ceaseless fountain of weird ideas that seems to flow when they don’t have to worry about making Dad mad. But it’s not about what Sam wants. It never is. So instead, he’s sitting in the car in the middle of the night on the side of an abandoned highway, trying to stay awake while Dad and Dean try not to die. ayane42 says "This story was amazing!! Such a realistic look at Sam at 12 and the emotions he goes through and his struggle to be part of the "family business" My heart ached all the way through this!". Available to download.
• Our very own cherry916 participated in this year's spn_reversebang. ash48 recommends you check out her story Absolution. Summary: When hotshot lawyer Jensen Ackles is hired by wealthy businessman Tom Welling to oversee his bitter divorce from cheating ex Jared, Tom makes it clear he wants two things from Jensen: to keep his fortune and his kids, and Jensen is to use any methods to ensure that. But has Tom told the whole truth about their marriage and how will Jensen deal with finally meeting the infamous Jared, who just happens to be his personal wet dream on legs?. ash48 says, "It's a fast paced story that will have you rooting for Jared and Jensen the whole way through. If you enjoy domestic abuse stories (with a happy ending), then this one will be for you". Available on A03 for downloading.


• Another fic recently posted at sammybigbang challenge is Finding Normal by annie46. Summary: Sam finds out that there is something else Ruby was hiding from him. Can he & Dean make a home for the child he never knew he had? He might have cured his brother once but the Mark of Cain still haunts the Winchesters and its dark shadow hangs over every move they make. Sam wants to keep his daughter but, deep down, he knows he will never 'Find Normal'.. ash48 was lucky enough to snag this for art and says. "I love this story. At first I wasn't sure because I'm not usually a fan of kid fic, but this isn't like your average kid fic. The author uses a child (Grace) to highlight the kind of lives Sam and Dean have. It's heartbreaking, but also hopeful. I love the exploration of what it means to find "normal". There's also some Dean peril and some Sam trauma. This takes place just after Dean become human again. I highly recommend you check it out.">

Featured Fic Recs:

• ayane42 has three fantastic older stories for you to enjoy this month. The first is RPF slash fic, My Shooting Star by fallenforsupernatural.Summary: Jared is a special man who has a passion for dogs, helping people, and a heart as big as a lion. Jensen adopts a dog from the shelter where Jared works, and the two are inexplicably entwined. She says, "This is a wonderful story about Jared finding happiness, despite his family, with Jensen. Lots of angst but a happy ending. It's available for eReaders.



• Her second rec is And Heartbreak Ensues by tinalia. Summary: Jensen is a newly ‘out of the closet’ gay man ready for his first big gay romance. Jared is everything he never knew he wanted - sexy, carefree and willing to try anything once. Trouble is, Jared doesn’t do relationships. She says, "I've read this story twice and it's still awesome! Man, the heartbreak! Jared so full of angst and longing to find himself and love".



• ayane42 third fic is also available for eReaders. It's Lexicale's wonderful Let Not the Sun go Down. (also lexicale on LJ). Summary:In the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, against the edge of the churning Nantahala, there lives a pride of creatures called the ailure -- ailuranthropes, cats with the ability to take the shape of a man. Their alpha, Jensen, has suffered a great loss, and is losing his sense of self and his direction. Not too far from them, another werecat, a human-raised runaway named Jared, is still trying to understand who, and what, he is. Grief has the ability to tear us apart, tear us down, but the ability to climb our way back out is always there, and the desire to leave behind our burdens is more than merely human. ayane42 says, "This was the first fic I'd ever read about were-cats, alpha/omega. I wasn't sure I would really like it, but this author weaves a entire universe around these creatures and it is written so beautifully that I reread this story often. It is a wonderful story with confused Jared and grieving Jensen and the slow build of their relationship. Definitely a must read!"
