Sorry for posting again so soon but i'm new and i've never had a place to voice all Supernatural musings.
Ok so usually i pride myself on being able to predict where a show's plot is going based on the little clues the writers pepper throughout the episodes. But l have never been able to do this very well with Supernatural. I've been trying to figure out why God want's Dean out of hell.
At first i thought they wanted him to lead their Angel army against Lilith and possibly Lucifer if he rises. This theory seemed to get some support when Castiel told Dean in "It's the Great Pumpkin Sam Winchester" that God was testing him. I assumed Castiel meant that God was testing Dean to see how he'd do with Angels under his comand. Now i feel like it was more along the lines of God testing Dean's morality and God's best resources to use for the test were his Angels.
So that made me feel like my Commander of the Angel Army theory was bogus.
Then after seeing the preview for On the Head of A Pin, my mind immediately jumped to this weird theory that God's plan for Dean all along was for Dean to torture Alastair for information. Which i don't really think is God's big plan for Dean anymore. For one thing if God pulled Dean out of hell just to have someone to torture Alastair then he could have pulled anyone other torturer out of hell. It also feels a little small scale.
I've seen theories where Dean is actually one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse or a fallen angel, but i don't really feel like those are going to turn out to be true. Although there was a reference to the four horsemen in Death takes a Holiday. I don't think Dean's a horseman because Alastair made that comment about them so casually to Dean, it felt like maybe the writers were seting things up so we will maybe see them later, but if Dean was one of them i feel like there would have been more emphasis on his remark. And i doubt Dean is a fallen angel because we've already seen that with Anna and if Dean's a fallen angel too then it would feel like the writers were just repeating themselves and they're too good for that.
All the reasons i can think of for God to pull Dean out of hell don't seem right. If he want's someone to kill Sam, he could just have an Angel do it. If he want's someone to save Sam i think it's a little late for that and I don't think Dean's the one who can save Sam anymore. I don't know i just can't think of anything God needs specifically Dean to do.
It's always seemed that Sam is the one with more ties to the Supernatural, he's closer to actually being a supernatural being. While Dean is the average human. He's kind of the Xander of Supernatural (I'm referencing Buffy).
I've heard rumors that next weeks episode is going to see God's full plan for Dean revealed. I really hope it's not going to turn out to just be to keep Sam on the straight and narrow or kill sam because really that's what Dean's mission has been since the beginning of the series. If that was God's reason for bringing him back it would be so anticlimactic.
Anybody have any theories on what Gods plan/reason for bringing Dean back is, that's backed up by some evidence?
Oh, and i know my writing isn't very good. I'm working on putting my thoughts down in a coherent manner and i still have a lot of work to do, so please forgive me if my posts seem amateurish or downright bad.
