Supernatural Halloween Challenge 2009

Sep 15, 2009 19:27

Every so often you feel those chills up and down your spine, and you pretend you cannot hear those noises in your basement. Sometimes the wind in the trees howls at night...and you think you're being watched...

Then you know it is time for the Supernatural Halloween Challenge!

Despite my delay, I am looking forward to see what everyone can create! What do the Winchesters do on Halloween? Is it their quietest night? Does Dean make an attempt to find evil creatures and fail? Does Sam have nightmares about wearing yellow polo shirts? Do sprites hypnotize them and make Dean replay the scary cat scream over and over and over?

This is your chance! The challenge kicks off on Friday, when we will start collecting prompts. ETA: This year we will be adding the opportunity for participants to chose between fiction, art, and vids!

Challenge Dates for 2009

September 18 - September 25: Collection of prompts for Supernatural Halloween stories, art, and vids.

September 26: The list of prompts will be posted for claiming and remain open until the end of the challenge.

October 1 - November 7: Post your stories!

November 8 (or sometime that week): A master list of stories and media will be posted.

Challenge Guidelines

1. This challenge is for Supernatural Halloween stories, art, and vids only. If it doesn't have to do with Supernatural and Halloween, and it's not a piece of fanfiction, graphic art, or vid, it doesn't belong here. Crossovers and AUs are fine; real person fic (RPF/RPS) is only allowed if it is part of a Supernatural crossover. If you're not sure your media fits, just ask.

2. There will be a list of prompts to choose from, but once the challenge opens on October 1 all Supernatural Halloween media are welcome, whether or not they are based on a prompt. Stories, art, and vids can be any genre, rating and style, featuring any characters and pairings (or lack thereof). All stories must be at least 500 words long.

3. Posting for the challenge opens on October 1 and closes on November 7 (for a given temporal location of "November 6" which is determined entirely by me, the moderator). Membership for the community is completely open and anybody can join, but posting will be moderated until October 1 to keep people from jumping the gun.

Feel free to look at previous years' master lists and prompt lists for ideas. Don't be shy, let's make this an awesome challenge!
