Why making your father a Supernatural Fanboy is made of win...
Hey Everyone!
I just have so much glee that I need to share!!
A few of you know that last April the only person who would go to the first Eyecon with me was my dad. He knew I loved Supernatural and had watched the Pilot and any other episode I made him watch, not many though. He didn't really know the characters or what was going on, but he still went with me to the con. He had a blast just like I did. In September of last year, we went to Eyecon2. At this point he had seen a majority of Season 3 and knew more about the show. He wasn't a FAN per se, but he did enjoy the show and "people watching" at the con.
Now lets fast forward to this March. I attended the Cherry Hill Convention with my roommate strangelyweird. My dad also came and said this probably would be his last Supernatural convention.
First off, strangelyweird and I decided, without telling my dad that we were entering him into the costume contest. We had gone and bought all we needed to turn him into Bobby Singer. Of course he was on board when we told him and he even went out and bought new shoes!
Here is the result:
Yep, we must have done a great job cause he won second place... but I really think he did it himself. Gary the MC was asking everyone their names and who they were dressed as, this is how my dad replied:
"Jim" there was a pause and everyone laughed, he then goes, "I'm here as Bobby Singer"
He got a really loud applause, it was awesome!
So after the contest, he was told by one of the creation guys to make sure he was around the next day, cause he might be able to get a picture with Jim Beaver. That made my dad's day. He was so excited.
The next day he went and bought an autograph ticket for Jim and a picture to get signed.
I don't have a scan of the autograph, but it said:
To Jim, My exact match, Jim Beaver.
Apparently someone had sent him the pictures of my dad the day before on Facebook. He thought it was pretty cool. My dad was also able to get a picture.
So of course, after this con, my dad decides that he's hooked and is officially a fan.
I let him borrow season one two weeks ago. He finished it in a week. I was on my way home from going out with my roommates when he calls me to tell me that he wasn't expecting the semi! He said he knew it happened, but he didn't know when! When I told him I couldn't get him season 2 until later that weekend he sounded really bummed. lol.
I got season two to him on Sunday and I saw this posted on his facebook, which is the reason I wanted to post this today, cause this made me laugh for a really long time.
I know that was LONG, but it made me GLEE so I had to share!!
Also, I was just reminded by tahirire that Gabe Tigerman said my dad was cool!
I didn't go to Eyecon3, but tahirire did and she was talking to Gabe about the costume contest and he said he remembered my dad! It was really cool and totally made his day!
