Episode Fic Recs: Asylum
Asylum is an episode that's really cool, yet I don't have that many stories bookmarked for it.
Title: Forgiveness

Summary: Tag to Asylum. Sam tries to make amends for what happened when he was possessed by Ellicot.
Warnings: None.
Not knowing what he could say to even begin to apologise, Sam picked up his own bag and shut the trunk of the Impala. Dean was already halfway to their room, striding ahead like he hadn't a care in the world.
I like this story because it doesn't let Sam off the hook too easily (and hey, there's hurt!Dean, always a plus in my book). He apologizes with actions instead of words, and cool use of the Impala as a plot device.

"Granola food! A Winchester is eating granola food! What is the world coming to?"
Excellent Dean POV for the aftermath of this episode-- he's hurting, he's angry, but his urge to protect and comfort Sam still runs strong in him. Again, Sam tried actions over words to convey his feelings. The banter between the brothers is spot on.

They’re both too old to believe these, but they’re used to pretending. They both think their father’s responsible for this; the difference is that Dean thanks him and Sam hates him for it.
This is a really nice look at the long-term ramifications of what happened in this episode, and all is not forgiven easily. I especially like the way John is an unseen presence in this story.
