Faith didn't know what the fuck she was doing.
Not the leaving and hotwiring the nearest car the second that she was sure Dean wasn't going to wake up. That was just going to happen, whether they had slept together or not. Faith felt something she couldn't identify when she was near Dean nowadays. It wasn't love because she had that before. With Sam. Who was Dean's brother. Faith shook her head. And here she thought that it was only B and her crew that did that soap opera thing.
No, what was shocking her was where she knew where she was going. She wasn't even going through that self-denial shit.
She buried the box and looked around. Every rational part of her wasscreaming to run. She wasn't a martyr. She wasn't the type to sacrificeherself for anything because people wouldn't do the same for her. Yeah, life sucked without Sam but she could move on. She had plenty ofpractice.
"Wow, Faith. I have to admit I never thought I'd see you here."
Faith turned and saw Buffy. No, not B. She was sure Buffy would never go brunette.
But everything else? It was on point. Damn.
Still it's not as if Faith was expecting something different. Demons always pulled the same tricks. Make Faith want what she could never have and hate everything that she did.
"You could have gone original," is what Faith settled on.
The demon grinned. "But I wanted to dress up special just for you." She moved around, started circling her, but Faith wasn't stupid enough to lose eye contact with her. The Buffy look-alike laughed. "So what can Ido for you Faithy?"
"I want Sam back."
"Not going to happen." The words were so quick behind Faith's request that Faith started to think that maybe this demon expected it.
"Why?" It was more of a demand than a question.
"Rule number seven of business, sweetheart," the demon answered simply."Never buy what you're going to get free." Faith watched as Buffy's face twisted with a smirk. "And your gutter soul is definitely heading to hell. No amount of atonement is going to make up for that."
Faith reached out and grabbed her hand. She pulled the chick to her and glared. "You wouldn't be here if there was something I couldn't give you."
"You could squeeze a little tighter," the demon winked. When Faith didn't move, one way or the other, she sighed. "There is something."
"What?"
The demon smiled. "I want you. The complete package, everything that's a part of you right now."
"I just offered that to you," Faith pointed out confused.
"No, you didn't. But it's what I want," the demon said. "You'll even get- well not ten years- let's say five?"
There was something there that she wasn't getting. Something that Faith felt was too simple. Nevertheless, this is what she came to do. Like the demon said, she was going to hell anyway. Sam didn't deserve to bethere. It was simple.
"Why are you letting me get to have so much time?" Faith asked.
The girl before her shrugged. "Taking you now would be no fun. You work yourself into these little self-destructive patterns when you have your back against the wall, Faithy. It gets me so hot." She paused. "Maybe I just like you."
"Don't fuck with me."
The Buffy look-alike slid up against Faith, making sure she held her gaze. "Do the reasons matter? C'mon sugar, let's make a deal. You'll even be kissing Buffy again. It'll be like all of your dreams came true."
That's exactly what Faith was worried about but she closed the gap between them anyway, letting lips, tongues, and teeth collide to save the Winchesters.
The demon pulled away and, with a wink, opened her mouth to allow a billow of black to escape to the sky.
The girl fell to the ground, coughing before looking up, trying to take in her surroundings. "What the fuck is going on?"
Faith ignored her, choosing instead to walk away. She made it back to her car before the urge to vomit overcame her.
A sinking feeling told her that her nausea had nothing and everything to do with what had just happened.
