Summary: Sam 'stays home sick', but still manages to have a wild adventure in the bunker. Set early season 10.
A/N: Three challenges for the price of one!
"You sure you'll be okay?" asked Dean for the dozenth time, remembering at the last possible moment not to land a reassuring pat on Sam's shoulder
"Just go already," complained Sam. "I'm injured, not a child," he added, gesturing to his sling. He shoved his brother out of the bunker and slammed the door shut behind him.
Sam made his way along seemingly endless, misty corridors, trying to ignore the way vines sprouted from the floor and twisted their way up the walls. Birds and monkeys chattered and squawked at him from the canopy of leaves now forming overhead. He blinked in disbelief as a giant tortoise trundled past, but the low growl of a panther made him dive for the shelter of his bedroom and lock the door.
When he turned around it was to reveal the empty wasteland of the Serengeti.
"Figures it would be a literal desert in here, too," he grumbled, mourning both his sanity and his love life. He threw himself down on the rock pile that was presumably his bed in the real world and prayed for the universe to stop spinning.
His eyes had barely closed before Dean was shaking him awake; fortunately not by his injured shoulder. "You were making some seriously strange noises so I kicked the door in," admitted Dean, sheepishly. "Good dream was it?"
"Wild," mumbled Sam, rubbing at his sleep-encrusted eyes. "But in the future can we not get pain meds by scoring them from a parking lot?"
