The whole street knows when that grouchy old hermit, Mr Singer, has his boys - his nephews, I think - coming to stay.
First, he comes into my grocery store for candy and soda in addition to his usual milk and whisky.
Then he goes to Mikey’s news stand and comes away with comic books instead of his newspaper.
We even see him going into the toy barn downtown; it was a kite and a baseball mitt last time.
But most of all, the whole street knows when grumpy old Mr Singer’s boys are coming to stay.
Because he doesn’t stop smiling.
