The Impala’s big-hearted engine roared as Dean’s foot pressed down on the gas. Her wheels span and her chassis creaked with effort, but she just couldn’t get any traction in the deep mud. She strained forward an inch, only to slide straight back again the minute Dean’s foot eased off the pedal.

The low rumble of her idling engine sounded like an apology. Her transmission stuttered when a large hand slapped her roof.

“I’ve shoved some planks down under the wheels, Dean, try again.”

“Come on, baby, you can do it,” Dean murmured.

Yes. For Dean, she could do anything.
