Little Dean had been wary of her at first, but now they were snuggled together on the couch watching something bright and loud. He was close enough that she both heard and felt it when his tummy rumbled.
“Hungry?”
He nodded. He didn’t talk much.
“You know what sounds good to me?” No response. “I think I’m going to bake some cookies. Should I make chocolate chip or peanut butter?” Still nothing.
She got up to head to the kitchen, but there was a tug on her pants leg.
“Peanut butter with chockit chips?” he whispered hopefully.
“That sounds perfect.”
