The heavens had truly opened and for once she was witness to a purely natural event.
Her boys were safe, for once, tucked away in the warmth of their motel room.
But the young pup, shivering and practically blue from cold, looking on from the roadside was not so lucky.
Baby sighed inwardly, a sound that was no more than the cooling hiss of an engine to the uninitiated, as she popped open a rear door in invitation to her temporary lodger.
She knew the rules better than anyone, but she also counted on the kind heart of her owner.
