DEW Drabbles: Ten and Twelve
Two slightly bittersweet drabbles written for this prompt on spn_bigpretzel DEW Theme: birthdays; Character: Bobby. And our theme was inspired as it was our wonderful mod dizzojay's birthday on the 1st, Happy Birthday weekend, Dizzo!
Title: Ten
Characters: Bobby, Sam and Dean

Summary: Birthdays are no big deal for Bobby, at least that’s what he tells himself.
Birthdays had never been a big deal for Bobby, until he met Karen. As a kid, his mom tried her best, but his dad always ruined them.
Karen would make him a cake, hang up banners and balloons, take him out to his favorite steak restaurant, buy him gifts…damn he missed her.
Those days were gone; now he’d got home-made chilli, beer and his videotape of Ten ready to go.
He grumbled when those two idjits turned up on his doorstep, bearing gifts of a new baseball cap and a bottle of the good stuff. It was his happy grumble.

Summary: John leaves his boys at Bobby’s on the eve of Dean’s twelfth birthday.
“But it’s Dean’s birthday tomorrow, you can’t leave!” Sam’s young voice chastised his father.
“It’s okay, Sammy,” Dean said, disappointed but keeping the peace.
“Dean knows this is important.” John retorted.
“More important than your boy’s birthday?” Bobby asked. “John, I can go…”
“Not this time, Bobby, it’s gotta be me,” John smiled sadly at Dean. “You’ll be okay.”
Dean nodded bravely. Bobby vowed to give him the best twelfth birthday possible.
“C’mon boys, let’s go shopping,” Bobby watched John drive away.
“Shopping?” Sam asked.
“Yep, we’re gonna need birthday food, starting with cake - or pie?”
“Pie!” Dean grinned.
