Dean waved a fry. “I was always gonna come after you.”
“Then what kept you so long?”
Dean looked down at his plate. “I . . . I tried to let you live that life, Sammy, but I couldn’t do it. Dad needing us just made it happen faster.”
“He made everything happen faster,” Sam murmured, looking down and then back up. “But for what it’s worth, I’m glad he did.”
“So am I,” Dean agreed through a mouthful of cheeseburger and a wide grin.
