He won't do it.
It's just a thought, so brief, here and gone quickly in the face of reality where brother faces brother, a drawn sword between them.
Gabriel tries to be menacing, tries to be strong. He stands firm, brave words echoing from him through his simulacrum. He's in the right, finally. He's chosen a side.
He sees a flicker in his brother's eyes, something saddened beyond belief, a regret so deep it makes him want to howl, but one that gives hope as well.
Lucifer can't do it.
He can't.
The doubt turns to a glimmer of belief that grows, and Gabriel stands taller, stronger and...
Lucifer turns the sword on his real self.
He could do it after all.
Belief dies, doubt dies, Gabriel...dies.
