Spooked by Robyn Hitchcock
I got the CD yesterday, and I was a little worried. I rate Hitchcock as being incredibly brilliant (Moss Elixer, Respect*) to mediocre, and kindof, well, bland (Perspex Island, live at the Cambridge Folk Festival*). So I was wondering which one I'd be listening to.
I needn't have worried. The individual songs don't have the 'pop', or instant appeal of She Was Sinister But She Was Happy or Serpent at the Gates of Wisdom, but it's absolutely lovely. Moody, quiet, acoustic, and lovely. And spooky.
*These CDs were 'Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians', for anyone keeping score.
