I think that one of my problem students has a crush on a girl in his group. He keeps on bugging her and trying to get her attention. He began today's lesson pestering her to play a piece for him and saying how awesome it was. As soon as she stopped paying attention to him, he got sulky and ran out of the classroom. He came back a couple of seconds later carrying a bee by its wings and put it down on her keyboard! All of the girls got squealy and ran away from the keyboards. Of course, I told him off quite sternly and made sure that he understood that bringing bugs in that could sting or bite could have serious consequences, and he seemed more apologetic than he usually does when he pulls silly stunts. (The girl seems to be oblivious to his attention. She's one of the brighter kids in her year, and is doing extremely well on the keyboard, but she's usually annoyed at this boy because he's so disruptive most of the time. Still, she tends to be more patient with him than the other girls in their group.)
The love bug has also found Zach. I found him in the front garden this afternoon when I got home - he was playing with the cat from next door, a beautiful young rag-doll. She'd given him a thorough bathing - his back was licked all over! They were prancing about together in the bushes having a merry time.
Also, Zach brought me breakfast in bed this morning. Thank goodness he can't get outside on his own to catch the wildlife! I've woken up with his toys next to me a number of times, and there is one in particular that he has 'killed' repeatedly and brought to me. It must be tasty. I was awake when he 'caught' it this morning, but I pretended to be asleep so he crept onto the bed and poked me a few times before presenting it to me. My Zachy is such a good boy!
