Again, it's teaching stuff.

I have another new student who started today.  Her name is Pin and she's another one from the Intensive English Centre.  I haven't quite figured out how good her English is, but I think that she must be similar to Plaw (who started last term) since they're in the same class.  She seems to understand instructions, but she's extremely shy.  She acts much the same as Plaw did at the beginning of last term, standing a bit away from the other students and only speaking when asked a direct question.  Plaw seems much more confident now.  She's started to stand more 'with' the group rather than 'near' them, and she has also started to join in the group activities more.  I hope that I can get Pin to come out of her shell a bit as well.

I was very pleased today when Plaw said she'd prefer to go to her keyboard lesson rather than stay in sickbay, even though she really didn't look very well.  Her teacher said that she really enjoys keyboard, so we encouraged her to come and I said that I'd take her back to sickbay afterwards.  I'm not sure if she was actually sick or if she was upset about something, but she was much better by the end of keyboard and went back to class rather than sickbay.

Adut's mother came to speak to me after lessons.  I've seen her around the school before as she is a teacher's assistant, but I didn't know that she was Adut's mum.  It seems that she is looking into getting a keyboard, which would be really great.  Adut is only about six or seven and it's hard to get any kid, especially one so young, to practice every day just moving their fingers on a table.  At their level, they can make progress that way, but it's certainly not a very interesting way to practice.
