drive around this dusted town for hours at a time
we recognize everything we left behind, years ago
distance drove us away from this place and led us to believe
that memories haunt us in our dreams
but come back to grace us as bestfriends
and now you're speaking farmiliar words you know
and taking another lasting breath
brushing over covered photographs in the ground
mounted pictureframes still line your desktop
open space, for your familiar voice
we haven't done anything right this year
but i'll still ride on the good times that we share
counting stars, hundreds in the sky
and we still treat the clock the same
counting seconds at a time
the key is in the ignition
but do you even know where you're driving?
don't forget the sunset still lives in your eyelids
and you'll never be able to pretend like you did then
we haven't done anything right this year
but i'll still ride on the good times that we share
counting stars, hundreds in the sky
and we still treat the clock the same
counting seconds at a time
so won't you listen up and pretend to be happy
