Regresé a Quito
I got off the bus at 6:30am today, completing the 60 hour finale of my bus adventure across South America (I left Sao Paulo on the 27th and got in to Quito this morning). It was about 130 hours of bus (a little over 5 days), and at an average of 50km/h I went about 6300 km. Victory!
I am in Quito again. It is cold and overcast and comforting. I decided to spend a day in the Mariscal before going to my Couchsurfing house - I am at a cafe-hostal!!!! PERFECT. The Mariscal is a backpacker's Disneyland. It is a little neighborhood of markets, parks, dance and language schools, parks, theme bars, clubs, foreign restaurants, travel agencies, cobblestone streets, hostels, and cafes - all the buildings are small are brightly decorated and it is nothing like the actual Quito. Kind of like Pioneer Square in Seattle, but a lot nicer and more touristy.
