[Kyoko's trekking back down the mountain path after an enjoyable morning spent with her brother. Well, partially enjoyable; it had taken some convincing that it was a bad idea to try to challenge a bear to a boxing match. Honestly, she almost had thought he had been serious.

She takes a corner and spots Red, his tshirt and jeans a stark contrast to the young girl's heavy jacket and snow boots, and calls out to him.]

-Are you alright?

[Kyoko can't understand anyone but her big brother minding being out in this sort of cold without protection, so the logical explanation is this boy is probably new, and maybe injured himself walking to his new house. Why else would he not have a jacket and be sitting in the snow?]

[catchings]

[ Red's in the middle of munching on a cracker when the strange girl shows up, and he stares at her quizzically. Doesn't he look alright? ]

... I'm fine. [ And, after managing to swallow said cracker-- ] Why?

[gladlygullible]

[Oh. Normally Kyoko would be a tad bit suspicious at a quick and flat answer, but something tells her this guy is being honest...which only makes her feel awkward for asking.]

Ah- I just thought- well, it's very cold out, and you don't have a jacket.

[catchings]

[ Red looks down at himself, then back at her. ]

I'm wearing one. [ IT'S JUST Y'KNOW SHORT-SLEEVED ]

I meant a winter jacket.

[Kyoko shrugs her jacket more over her shoulders and pulls it tighter around herself.]

There's no need for that.

[ Unnecessary clothing is unnecessary.... ]

...You're not cold at all? Won't you catch a cold?

[catchings]

I'm used to it.

[ Pikachu then slides into Red's lap, before proudly exclaiming a "Pika!". Which Red can understand almost perfectly. ]

[Kyoko starts a little as Pikachu pops up. What on earth...?]

Oh!

[And she doesn't really know what else to say. Asking 'what is that' sounds a little rude, but she really has...no idea what it is.]

[catchings]

... Never seen a Pokemon before, huh?

[ To him, it's like someone's never heard of an animal before or something. He's gotta get used to this no-Pokemon thing. ]

[Kyoko shakes her head.]

A Pokemon? Is that what he's called?

[catchings]

He's a Pikachu, an electric type Pokemon.

[ If there's one thing that's bound to get him to talk a lot, it'd probably be explaining Pokemon to people. ]

... You can hold him, if you want. [ She seems nice, so Pikachu wouldn't shock her. ]

[She hesitates, but only for a second before curiosity gains the better of her. Pikachu seems harmless enough, and the boy he's with hardly feels threatening.]

Are you sure it's alright?

[catchings]

[ Red nods, before holding Pikachu out to her, who greets Kyoko with a happy squeal. ]

He likes you, so...

[Kyoko's eyes widen a little at Red's words, and she smiles.]

Really?

[She reaches out tentatively and picks Pikachu up.]

[catchings]

[ Another "Pika!", and Pikachu settles comfortably in Kyoko's arms. Oh right, where were Red's manners? ]
