[Behold! A video feed of another newbie; this time it's a young boy. He's shown at a myspace-esque angle -a result of looking for the 'lens'- in the dim lighting his pokenavi has provided. There's a large Milotic protectively coiled around his feet, but only her head is visible low

But, is this city having a blackout right now? The moon's out but I don't see any streetlights here.

Guess I was late in telling you that.

It's an eclipse actually. There weren't any streetlights to begin with, so...

Ah, so it's only an eclipse? So the darkness shouldn't last that long then! That's a relief.

I can make out the skyscrapers against the sky, but that's about it. It's pretty strange though; you'd think they would have streetlights with all this modern architecture.

A-Actually the eclipse has lasted a couple of days now...no one knows when it will end.

Well, you see, the architecture for each district is really different. Like...just up north of where you should be, there are a bunch of castles and estates. And in another district, there are cottages, like the ones you see in fairytales.

It's- it's starting to sound more like an amusement than a city! This is insane...

[The worst part of it is- he's not just hearing odd things like this from one person; it may actually all be true. Can you hear the ORZ?]

It's a bit strange but you get used to it.

By the way, your Milotic is very pretty. Are you a coordinator by any chance?

Of course! Same here. It's so nice to meet another coordinator. Everyone else here are trainers and while that isn't a bad thing, I miss being able to talk to people who love contests as much as I do.

[so excited, like you couldn't believe]

I know how you feel. There were so few coordinators to talk to outside of the contests houses when I traveled across Hoenn.

I don't think I've ever seen a Piplup. Does he specialize in one category?

Oh, you've traveled through Hoenn? I was planning on heading there since I've finished with the contests in Sinnoh.

[holding up her pokedex as she opens up to an entry on Piplup. Category? Did Hoenn do it differently?]

Hm? Category? No, he doesn't specialize.

[So Dawn has one of those pokedexs too, huh? Interesting. The only other person he knows who owns one is Sapphire, but he's not going to pry about it. Contests.]

What a cute pokemon... He'd have an inherent advantage in that category, I would think. What's the contest atmosphere like in Sinnoh? I've never been there.

It's a little hard to describe because I've never been in any contests outside of Sinnoh but I'd say it can get pretty intense in the final rounds. It's a lot of fun though and most coordinators are really friendly. I met a lot of people who were happy to help me out when I was just getting started.

I have to agree about the last rounds. I'd say it's about the same in Hoenn and Johto, especially because five chances are all you get to make an impression on the judges in the appeal segment. It can get pretty hectic, haha...
