[If you happen to be hanging about the Golden Entranceway today, you will find a rather well dressed young girl flitting about the area, bouncing from NPC to NPC and bombarding them with questions. This... is about as fruitless as one would expect it to be. Eventually she spots a new person and swiftly approaches, looking frazzled but determined ( Read more... )

[Seeing as how the Golden Entranceway has become a kind of gathering spot for newcomers, Link usually tends to stop by there once or twice a day to see if he can spot someone interesting, or even just anybody he's already met since his arrival. Lucky for Zelda, she just happens to be there around the time Link decides to show up for his daily socializing.

Now, at first he doesn't quite realize she's there. He registers a small figure flitting in and out of his peripheral vision for a few minutes, but it's only when he can hear a weirdly familiar voice does he actually look around for the source. And when he sees it-- he totally blanks out, eyes going about as wide as a pair of bowling balls and his mouth gaping open in a truly Link-esque look of shock.

What. What. That-- just doesn't make sense, what happened to Tetra??? There's no way she could be Zelda again, and even if he's incredibly relieved to see her after more than a week of having no idea where she was, he's obviously dreaming right now and he can't even bring himself to try and reject the possibility. Yeah, that's it: he fell asleep under that tree he was resting by and now he's having some crazy lucid thing going on and oh god what is going on--?

So yeah pretty much have a Link staring at you like the genius he is, Zelda.]

[Sigh, another NPC, another ignored query. She didn't quite have the energy to chase after this one with the same fervor as the others she questioned, but she was far from giving up yet. Turning, she began to scan the area for new prospects to bother, her gaze eventually falling upon Link.

...Wait a moment. Link? Here?

She didn't question it any farther than that. Who would, in a situation like this? She was tired, frantic, and just so, so relieved to see a familiar face, especially his. And it's not a second later that Link will find himself enveloped in what is probably the tightest hug he's had in some time.]

Link! Oh, thank goodness you're here!

[Oh god oh god maybe he just just walk awAAAAAAH OH NO TACKLE HUG NOT AS PLANNED. He stumbles backwards, automatically flinging his arms around her to squeeze back with an inarticulate squeak-- surprise, confusion, and maybe a bit of happiness are somewhere in that sound. Seriously though, this has to be the most lucid dream he's had in his LIFE, and some part of him is telling him it's obviously not one because there's just no way he'd dream like this. But even that makes more sense than the alternative of Zelda actually being real because he knows that's completely impossible. This is definitely impossible.

He can't help but keep hugging her though, finding it bizarrely nostalgic to remember how different Tetra's Zelda form felt to him-- even now it seems just like that, and it freaks him out enough that he's still staring with that same dumb-struck look on his face, caught somewhere between horrified realization and disbelief.]

[Haha, let's go being completely oblivious to how awkward Link feels! Having been hugged back, Zelda simply assumes everything is okay. She stays in that position for juuuust a few seconds longer, then sighs contentedly and lets go.]

You have no idea how relieved I am to see you! I was so worried that I might be completely alone... Not that I couldn't have taken care of it by myself, but, ooooh! The people here are very rude you know, they-- [She stops, finally catching that dumbfound look on his face, and meets it with one of worry.] Link? Whatever is the matter?

[He lets go of her as soon as she pulls away, having no need to embrace in order to stare dumbly at her and wonder what the hell his mind is concocting here. He listens to her talk at him with a weird kind of detachment, like he's watching this happen from somewhere outside of himself-- even being asked what's the matter doesn't do a whole lot for his clarity of the situation because this just can't actually be happening.

Okay, so if he thinks about this simply. Here he is, at the Golden Entranceway with Zelda. But Zelda is actually Tetra, and he hasn't seen Tetra in over a week despite efforts to find her. Now that he has found Tetra, she is actually Zelda. But she can't be Zelda if she doesn't have the Triforce of Wisdom, which she doesn't have anymore, and--

And this is really hurting his head. With a slightly pained expression he raises a hand to his forehead, blinking away the oncoming headache and possibly spaz attack before it's too late.]

[She leans in, staring at him intently, trying her best to ignore the knot of worry and doubt forming in the pit of her stomach. Was he ill? If so, whatever virus infected had him sure picked the absolute worst time to do so.]

You don't look well at all! You're not sick, are you? Come on, let's find you somewhere to sit down. I believe I passed more than a few benches on my quest for answers earlier...

[He's got enough common sense in him to nod back feebly; maybe sitting down would make him feel better after all. He's very slowly starting to come to the terrifying terms that this probably is not a dream and his mouth just really isn't working properly with the whole forming words that aren't incoherent panicky noises things, especially if he has to stay standing up at the same time.]

[She takes his hand to guide him at this point, figuring if he really is sick then he's going to need all the support he can get. Spotting the nearest bench, she leads the way over and gestures for him to sit down.]

Please, rest here for now. I hate to leave you so soon after finding you again, but if you aren't feeling well then we need to find shelter for you as soon as possible. A bench simply won't do for the long term.

[Grateful for the procuring of said bench, he climbs onto it-- before he registers the implication that she is going to leave and he promptly hops right off of it again, waving in frazzled motions and shaking his head NO. No don't leave, he needs to figure out how to talk again! Making an effort here:]

Wh-- What happened--?

[Surprised by his own ability to form competent words despite how much shock he's in at the moment, he leaves it at that lest he start babbling already and ruin the good head start he's gotten himself.]

[His getting up is going to prompt a glare from her.] Sit.

[She relaxes afterward, looking up as she recalls exactly how she ended up here.] I'm not entirely sure how it happened. It was a normal day in the castle: I was doing some paperwork, and... I thought I heard the whistle of the Spirit Train. Upon following the noise to its source, I discovered an odd music box, and then-- nothing. My mind is completely blank from that point until I woke up here.

[That glare immediately has him sitting down again anyway, listening to her with big, confused eyes that only become more and more bewildered as she continues her little speech of How I Got Here.

What castle? Spirit Train? What the hell is a train? Okay, he thinks he's definitely missing something here, or Zelda-Tetra-He Doesn't Even Know is making absolutely no sense whatsoever. He's more inclined to believe the latter, but she is suddenly in her Zelda form again, so maybe something really did happen to her during the time they were separated?

Gently, so as to keep her from spewing out a long and complicated answer he can't follow,]

Spirit Train?

Yes, the Spirit Train! [She backs up a bit and starts to feel increasingly... uncomfortable.] Why are you looking at me like you have no idea what that is?

[Ohgodpleasedon'thitme. He stares at her in silence for a moment, before very timorously shaking his head at her in a completely nonplussed way. WHY IS THIS SUCH A SHOCK, MAYBE SHE WENT AND HAD HER OWN ADVENTURE IN THAT WEEK-AND-A-BIT AND HE DOESN'Y KNOW ABOUT IT.]

[She isn't going to hit him, but she will grab him by the shoulders and start shaking him rather roughly.]

Come on, you know what that is! It's the train Anjean gave us at the very beginning of our journey; we used the it to restore the tracks that bound Malladus! It was our only means of transportation throughout our entire adventure through all of New Hyrule!

Are you telling me you don't remember any of that?

unamvirtus October 24 2010, 03:42:08 UTC
[WOAH WOAH WHAT THE HELL HE IS DEFINITELY NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE he "wah?!"s in surprise as she shakes him, already lost by the time she gets to "Anjean". Who the hell is Anjean, what journey is she talking about, tracks of what and who's Malladus??? And what transportation is she tlaking about and WHAT ADVENTURE and-- and what--]

New Hyrule??

[He blurts this rather loudly, totally stupefied. That part has definitely caught his attention, and now he's staring at her like he wants to back away in terror. He is so confused.]

[Link won't have to do any backing away, Zelda's got that covered. She just stares at him, hurt at first, then slowly coming to realize with his last words that not only does he not know of their adventure, he doesn't even know of their home.]

...I am beginning to suspect that you are not who I think you are.
