It would help to know who you were, wouldn't it?

M-my apologies! Please forgive my rudeness!

[Ahh so flustered, he was thinking so much he forgot to introduce himself...]

I am Japan. Pleased to meet you.

[ Well, he wasn't expecting that response. He opens his mouth to speak, but there's a slight pause. He should be polite. ]

Japan.
...No, I'm sorry, I do not think I'll be much use to you but where are you from?

...I see... Ah, I am... from Japan. [Will he have to explain this sort of thing again, he wonders. So there's a pause.]

What is the name of this place, if I may ask?

You're...

[ Alright. Well. Edel's not going to question that right now. Honestly, what isn't strange about this place... ]

Splendor. An oddly fitting name for this city, but I still feel it hides something we may not be aware of. It's a magical city- are you familiar with magic? There's a lot of it here.

Magic? [He recalls magic from the last world he visited. Yes, he was familiar...]

I am familiar with the concept. That is a bit strange... How does it affect this sort of a setting?

...You're not a magician then. I see.
Well, it works- ... I'm not entirely sure how it works in this world, but I'm used to it being a sort of element. It's something innately controlled by those gifted in the art.

But that doesn't matter. Here, you can make wishes and they're instantly granted. Tricky and somewhat suspicious, if you ask me.

I am not, though I was promised by someone to be taught such things... [He trails off a bit sadly.

And then snaps out of it.]

That is certainly odd. One would assume there to be a catch of sorts. I assume we would not be able to wish ourselves home?

I assume the same. I'm not going to try it, I don't feel confident in using magic I'm not well-versed in for my own selfish needs.

I... do you have the potential for magic? I too need a teacher, I'm a little afraid to practice on my own here.

Eh? I had heard that it was possible for each person to learn such a thing...

Is that not the case where you are from?

[ He laughs bitterly. ]

No, people are ranked by their reaction to magic in my world. I, unfortunately, happen to rank in the higher levels. Seven. A number that means nothing to you but so much to me...

Those ranked zero are immune to magic. They can neither cast it or be inflicted by it. What a carefree life that must be...

Uwah... Forgive me if this is too forward, but I am quite interested in this sort of thing. For those from other worlds, such as myself, would it be possible to determine their number?

I... don't know. I don't grade others. I'm not a magistrate like my uncl-

[ He stops. Too much information. Simply too much.]

I'm an alchemist. I don't wish to really learn magic myself. I only do it out of necessity.

[There's an understanding sort of 'Hmmm' as he thinks.]

I understand. Forgive me, I will refrain from prying too far,-- ...Ah, I do not believe I caught your name.

[ Short and sweet. Formal, noble family names are embarrassing to this young man. ]
