[Within his line of work it wasn't uncommon for Asch to overhear the stories his subordinates would share about their own personal opinions on what would happen if they were to fall on the battle field. Many believed the idea that they would be greeted by pearly white gates when they finally met with the afterlife, others felt they'd be sent to the fiery pits, and some even entertained the thought even perhaps nothing happened in the end- that once you were dead that was it. Though he felt some ideas were more stupid and far-fetched than others, in the end it wasn't actually a thought he humored much himself. He had much more important things to worry about then dwelling on foolish things he couldn't control. But as he had taken those last few breaths down in those stark white halls of Eldrant, he took a brief moment to ponder what exactly he may see when-- no, if he were ever to open his eyes again.

Much to his surprise, he did find himself regaining consciousness even after death. It had started with what almost felt like a dream- in his hands he clutched a small music box, the pins and comb housed inside the box echoing a familiar melody within the vast whiteness he found himself in. He watched as the blood (Was it those of the Oracle Knights he had slain before he had died? Or was it perhaps his own?) that coated his hands ran down the varnished wood of the box, and when the final clanks of windup key bring the melody to its end, his dream had ended as well.]

[The first thing Asch felt as he awoke was just how hard it was for him to breathe, followed immediately after by a dull ache that seeped throughout his body. The pain, he concluded, was more akin to overexerting the body after an intense workout and nothing like the one he had felt just prior when he had been shish-kabob'd by a trio of swords. His hand instinctively reached out as if knew right beside him was a pillar- now marked with a bloody streak as his hand met the marble- that he's thankful is there to catch his fall. Though this pain was a lot more tolerable than what he felt just prior to arriving here- wherever here was- it was still extremely taxing on his body.

When he feels his breath has mostly caught up with him, he pushes himself back up to his feet, abandoning the support of the pillar and slowly begins to wander the halls of the Golden Entranceway, his only concern now is to find out where the hell he is.]
