[Luke's had enough time now being an adult (sort of) again that some of his initial mortification and discomfort has worn off. Or at least, it's worn off enough that the need to thank/apologize to everyone has overridden it. He's going to have to talk to everyone sometime. He can't run and hide from everyone forever

D-don't what?
[He doesn't know what you're talking about but he knows it's not good.]

[Asch pulls back from the Seal a little bit, but his expression is still irritated, even judging.]
Don't waste your time over apologies and thanks. Nothing happened.
[He says the last sentence slowly, as if Luke's supposed to get what he means. He can forget everything that happened in the 24 hours he spent with Asch. Maybe his original even wants him to.]

Yes it- I owe it to them. I can't just pretend nothing happened when it did!
[He has manners Asch.]

What, are you stupid? Fine! I'll spell it out for you, replica. You didn't stay over. And I don't know anything about you turning into a little kid.

[So far as Luke's concerned, Asch is bringing this discussion on himself. He could have just ignored Luke's post entirely and both of them would have been happy to ignore what had happened and forget last week existed - though Luke would be lying if he said he hadn't thought a great deal about Asch coming to help him... But no. Now Asch had brought it up? Now there was no ignoring it.]

[Asch avoids the question entirely.]
Tch! So how is it you had to ask for something to do? Don't tell me you've accomplished nothing this whole time.

I haven't been doing nothing! What exactly am I supposed to do here anyway!?
[It's not exactly like he has a lot to offer talent-wise to the people here... people who don't need anything as is. You can just wish for anything you want! What was Asch expecting out of him?]

Forgetting stuff and moping around don't count.
[A beat as Asch's eyes narrow and he continues in a hard, almost taunting tone.]
Unless you actually want to stay here.
[An answer, maybe. An answer that Asch doesn't have, and that no one else seems to possess either.]
Reply
N-no I don't! And it wasn't like I wanted to forget!
[And yet he did, or at least to not think about it. But not enough to wish it all away. His memories were, in a way, one of the most important things to him. Things like Akzeriuth, and all the changes he'd made afterward... He wouldn't have just thrown them all away for a momentary relief.]

When Luke finally speaks again, his voice is a lot quieter, but still intense.]
It was an accident that's all. [You can't tell him you never made a mistake while wishing. Well you can, but it's a different thing whether Luke will believe you or not. If Kid's made mistakes while wishing...] And I haven't been doing nothing.

[But at least Luke's not stammering every other sentence anymore. It's a small improvement, in his opinion. He studies his replica with an unreadable expression plastered across his face.]
Don't you think I know that?
I don't have time to keep cleaning up your accidents, and you can't afford to keep making them.

You didn't have to come.
[He'd wondered, for a little while, if Asch had actually cared. He'd taken care of him, put up with him, looked for him when he'd wandered off... Now he's sincerely doubting that]

[His pride had taken a severe beating that moment when Luke decided to stand on his own, when he'd said so back in Grand Chokmah, and when he was defeated by him in Eldrant. It had stunned him - to have lost. It had confused him - to be told that they were different by the very person who'd been created to replace him. Luke had finally found confidence, had finally become comfortable with himself. He'd hated it.]
[But now...]
I didn't have to! I was repaying a debt.

A debt?
[What kind of debt and to who?]
