[The voice feed clicks on. In the background, if one were to listen closely, they could hear the splashing sound of a familiar water fountain in the Wonderland District. There's a few moments of silence before the person begins to speak.]Some people have been here for a really long time, huh? Months... even though months are so much shorter here

[Asch casts a spare glance over at the fountain - it'd been easy enough to figure out where the idiot had gone to with the sound of running water in the background, and then the poison episode from some weeks ago...]
[Stopping a few feet away, Asch crosses his arms and looks down disapprovingly at a Luke who is half the size but, he suspects, twice the trouble. What a pain.]
Was this the only thing you could find to do?

Wait. You... person you. You look (and feel) kind of familiar. Kind of like Mother and Father, right (even though he's still learning to recognize them as his parents)? Is he maybe supposed to know you? Luke steps out (a little wobbily) from behind the lamppost, and reaches a hand out and points at Asch, a confused and curious look in his eyes. Who are you? Answer please.]

You idiot..! Don't tell me you--
[Nothing's there but the curiosity of an absolute child who's never seen him before. Asch snorts, and by now his anger's been wasted and his voice has grown oddly quiet.]
...You did.
Humph. You can't even talk, can you?

He wants to get a closer look at this big person who looks like Mother and Father but isn't them, though. Tentatively, he lets go of the lamppost and takes a few shaky steps closer, until he can look up at this strange new person, making a soft questioning sound. You're tall...]

[Asch stares down at the miniature replica who's made up his mind to inspect him and contemplates what to do. He probably can't just leave him here alone, no matter how easy it'd be. Two conflicting memories are busily gnawing at his nerves.]
What is it?

[The words are shaky, as if he's not sure he's using the right ones. Which he isn't. "What" and "Why" were both questions he asked when he didn't know or understand something, and he wanted to. The first in particular if he didn't know what (or in this case who) it (they) was (were). Hopefully Asch will understand, because Luke tends to get frustrated easily when people can't seem to understand him.]

[Asch looks back at him, one image in his mind's eye the child installed at House Fabre as his replacement and the other... the one who managed to play babysitter to all of them while stuck as a child himself. Asch gives his head a shake as if to shake the thoughts away.]
[It doesn't take any huge stretch of the imagination to figure out what Luke's asking, though Asch hardly intends to cater to the boy's handicap.]
"Asch".

Ah... A-the? [No that wasn't right] A-se?
[He frowns frustratedly. That wasn't right either. Until Asch tells him to do otherwise, Luke's going to be distracted practicing the "sh" sound and trying to get his name right.]

[He repeats it one last time. Luke's trying so damn hard (and not quite getting it) that it's pitiful.]
[Wait. Why is he even bothering? This is ridiculous! But he knows why. They still aren't "even" and he doesn't like the feeling that he owes anyone anything. If he can survive a few hours playing babysitter...]
Tch... Nevermind.
[He jerks his head in an "away" direction.] Let's get moving. You can't stay here.

[Well that was better, at least. Sounded right...
Wait... Asch was saying something else now... and... oh, he jerked his head that way.... Luke had never been communicated to in this manner before, so he was unsure what he was supposed to do. He glanced over in the direction Asch was looking in. Was there something there he was supposed to see? Except there were a lot of new things he'd never seen before...
Curious (and distracted) he takes a few steps in that direction, looking around in wonder.]

[Where's he...? Oh for the love of...!]
[Asch mentally rolls his eyes and follows after him - which is pretty much a cake walk seeing how wobbily Luke is. But Asch doesn't have all day to fool around and play games with his younger counterpart.]
...
[Humph. At least he's going the right way.]

Unfortunately, this means Luke is apt to wander off when something catches his eye - like those mushrooms over there, for instance!]

Luke. We're going.

THUD.]

[Asch begins plodding on ahead, but turns his head to look back over his shoulder just in time to witness a red mop taking a dive into the dirt.]
