[Sissel's no stranger to sleeping in random corners outside, but. It's a bit strange when a human does it. Besides, doesn't everyone get a room here?

He nuzzles the man gently, just to make sure he's okay.]

[He's still half-sleeping when he reacts to the feline. A hand even brushes him unintentionally before he realizes how strange the feeling is, snapping back to reality with a little startled sound. Jack stares at him with a confused frown, still trying to focus...]

Goodness.

[It's a cat.]

[And Sissel stares back, at least until he can gauge whether that's a good expression on the man's face or not.]

Is there a reason you're sleeping outside?

[It's a talking a cat.]

I-- [He presses lips immediately, wondering if he's heard it right. If he heard anything at all.]

[There's that look again. The "that cat is talking" look.

Slowly, he's getting used to how to deal with it. Sissel gives a moment before answering, just to make sure the man isn't too bewildered to hear his answer.]

I just wanted to know why you're sleeping outside.

[Jack has to stare just for another moment, finally rubbing the bridge of his nose with shut eyes.

Let's pretend this is actually happening for a moment. He drops his hand back onto his lap.]

Because it's where I sleep. I'm sure you understand.

[It's kind of hard not to when you put it so bluntly. But aren't there better places to sleep? Maybe this guy just didn't know.]

Don't you have a key? You should be able to sleep somewhere better than here...

[He's silent, eyes evaluating the little animal. He shifts, relaxing again, eyes closed and arms crossed.]

[He yawns and stretches out his paws, trying to break the monotony of just staring at each other. That and it's still a bit early.]

Just be careful. It can be dangerous outside at night. [At least, based on his experience.]

[Despite his tone, Jack is very much determined to think of this as a dream. He opens one eye.]

I've seen detectives get shot, valiant doggies get run over, little girls get kidnapped... all in the same night too. [Granted, those incidents were all connected, but it just shows how much can happen in one night.]

Haven't seen anything like that in Splendor yet, but it doesn't hurt to keep an eye out for that kind of stuff.

Well, then, I highly doubt there's anything to worry about. [He's seen his fair share of danger. Days, weeks, months and years of constant fear over what might be at the turn of the corner. This place has been stale enough to allow him to relax. Barely.] But I appreciate the warning.
