[ Toph stops what she's doing, her head turning towards the Seal's position although her eyes don't track to it. But with surprising accuracy for someone who can't see, she comes over and picks it up from the rock it'd been resting on. ]

Different elements used different bending forms, and each one has it's own character. Like when Katara uses waterbending, she dances around all whooshy like--

Does a fight with bending involve just the elements, or do you also trade physical blows?

It depends on the form. A lot of it is element, but for example, [ she gestures with her hands, and rocks leap to encase her entire arm in stone ] I can hit back just fine.

No, people are born into a certain element. The only one who can control all the elements is Aang, because he's the Avatar.
