[Riku hasn't been much of a deep sleeper, not since Castle Oblivion at least - and even here in Splendor, his habits of staying up until he was ready to collapse and even then sleeping not much more than two hours or three at a time haven't changed much.
When Vanitas contacts him, he is dozing, caught half between dream and reality - and it takes a moment until he realizes what's going on. He frowns at the message, something is wrong, so much is obvious - he's never heard that tone of voice from Vanitas; not even when the Heartless had been on the lose. Finally he picks up the seal, voice calm and tense when he replies.]
[Something unforeseen that works to his advantage, it would seem. Vanitas plays it up in spades, still running when he hears Riku respond. It takes him a moment to reply, pretending to be out of breath.
Perhaps it wasn't just acting...]
...I found something. Do you know of some pet called- [He pauses, like he's reading.] -Pluto?
[Riku doesn't even try to hide the surprised hiss that escapes him when Vanitas mentions Pluto and if he hasn't been awake before, he is definitely now. Frowning, he focuses on the rest of the Villa, trying to make out the dog's sense, the frown deepening when he comes up blank.]
[That reaction... No, no. Wait until later when it was too late for Riku to change anything, then go on with the smug laughter -- he stops, as if though he's near the Villa. Riku can probably sense him close by.]
...I found it; the collar. It was next to someone's seal.
