...I'm sorry. Why are they mean to you?

[That's a question that has answers Rion's been wishing for since about the age of eight or nine. Why are they mean? Because he's mute? Because he's tiny? Because he's not interested in a lot of guy things? Because they can be?

There's a multitude of reasons that they might be, and if Rion had any idea what the reason might be, he'd be happy to tell her.

... I don't know why, and I don't want any company right now.

[After years of this, the conclusion Rion's reached is that someohow he deserves what he gets. He's not sure why, or what he's done, or if there's anything he can do about it -- but on some level he's just resigned to his fate.

Right now he really doesn't want to talk about it; the idea of explaining everything is something he doesn't think he can handle right now.
