[ Kawaguchi's been there for a while. Almost a day, actually, most of which has been spent wandering around in no particular direction, expression caught somewhere between incredulous and irritated. She squints a little, at first, because she's generally nocturnal, but after that, ums and ahs as she makes her way around, having no idea how to begin freaking out. And so she simply opts not to; Kawaguchi eventually takes hold of her seal, presses it against her palm, and then starts talking. A lot ]

Now that I think about it, this wouldn't be a bad story. It's like I've found where all my creativity was hidden away, and all I had to do was fall into a coma. People dream in those, right? All of these different backgrounds might be difficult to draw, though, and nobody's really interested in stories that are all about the architecture of these districts or whatever. Maybe a different medium would be better, like something you can just write, and describe what it's all like. You know, like a book, or - a play, one of those long poems. Something.

Anyway. Good story. Whenever this sort of thing happens, it usually means it's only the beginning. For people like me, at least. Just a normal person, turning up in a strange town - city? world? - and getting this weird device. I don't think science can really explain it, and I'm not supposed to think that magic exists. That's what a witch told me, anyway. Maybe I'm a magical girl, and this is some sort of super-realistic anime.

And if we're all from, ah, different places, then that's fine, too. There doesn't have to be any sort of continuity with characters, or consistency behind cultures and abilities, and, if we're going with the magical girl theme, powers. We're a giant mixed bag. It's practically an excuse to be lazy.

- but it's not like I'm really going to write a story about this. Do you have any idea how much effort that would take?

Basically, what I'm trying to say is, ah. What the fuck?

[ by the time she stops speaking, Kawaguchi's in Metropolis District, outside the library ]
