Are you okay? Has anyone explained the city to you yet?

[ He looks back and lowers his hand. ] Sorry. I'm snappy when I'm stressed.

And... no. Not in so many words.

It's fine. The sudden change in location is disorientating.

[A short pause as he thinks of a way to explain the city properly]

The city we're in now is called Splendor. It pulls in people from different worlds and times through the music box. No one knows of a way out but I heard the locals were searching for one. The locals tend to ignore us so if you need to ask about something, it's best if you ask over the seals. You should have gotten a key of sorts too - on it will have where you live and money for food. Everything else is free though.

[ Listening carefully about all of this - he does have a key, which he found in his blazer pocket upon arriving, but he hadn't given it much thought since he found it there and started wandering. ]

Why do the locals ignore us? And seriously? Everyone found a music box? Not just me and Blaine? That is so creepy. It's like prime horror movie stuff, some evil music box snatching people from their homes and sending them who-knows-where.

I don't really know but apparently that their way of treating us with courtesy.

A friend of mine found his music box in a dream though.

Um...about three months now, I think. There are people who have been here longer though.

[ His face falls. ] ...oh my god. Talk about an extended vacation. I had better not miss Regionals because of this! Or Nationals!

I-It's okay, don't worry. Nothing changes back home while you're here - if you manage to get sent back, you'll be right where you had left off.

...Really? Do you know that for sure? I mean... I guess that's good, but then I'll forget everything I've learned at school, like you do after a long summer vacation.

Yeah, I got sent back a couple of days ago. It was like I never left. I didn't even remember leaving home until I got dragged back here.

That's crazy! What, did you find another music box? If you don't remember the first time being here it's not like you can avoid finding the stupid thing again... [ He sighs heavily because this is all INSANE. ]
