...Careful with that.
[That deep voice isn't being spoken to you, Splendor, but rather, the owner of what are apparently disturbingly long white fingers, bound in some black material around the joints. They're blocking a portion of the view, but at the order, they move away, leaving it unblocked. Dusk Nobodies are very obedient!
The room that is

Nobodies cannot die, my boy. They know a much different fate at the time their bodies are defeated.
[ He speaks kind of slowly, a smile appearing on his face. ]
I have to wonder... Why you are asking this question?
[ He'd also have a job offer for Lexaeus, but he's not sure the Nobody is interested in creating Keyblade War and attempting to destroy Splendor in the process. ]

It is a variety of death, if nothing else, and no other name fits it.
[As for the other question... Well, he certainly does not feel inclined to answer that. For one thing, it is his business and his alone. Secondly, he simply does not trust the old man. This is nothing unusual; he did not trust most of his own comrades. He certainly will not trust this man.]
Scholarly interest... A good enough answer?
[He knows it's not.]

I suppose so, although I prefer the word sleep. State of suspension is even more precise. This defines better the state the Nobody is in before his rebirth.
[ Not a good answer indeed, but Xehanort knew he could not expect more from the Nobody. He chuckles and nods. ]
Yes, it is. I would expect no less from one of Ansem the Wise's apprentice.

Perhaps you are correct. [He's still using that careful neutral tone, not revealing much in that or his expression.] The question arises, then, of what can bring about a Nobody's awakening.
[Ah. The King. His teacher. He taps one finger against his worktable and then abruptly quits the action. That is an awkward and sensitive subject for most of the original six, varying depending on the individual. Memories of that time were strong, after all, and dictated quite a bit. Some, like Xigbar, seemed blissfully uncaring. Xemnas viewed the whole thing, seemingly, with some disdain for the mentor who had given them so much.
Lexaeus simply tries not to think about it, and he had not thought someone would be able to remind him of his apprenticeship for a long while.]
...I do the best I can.

It would be a poor choice tactically... Better to go with a cryptic answer, that might make the Nobody think. ]
Who knows my boy? Somebody, probably.
( Who knows what he might mean by somebody. That somebody can awaken the Nobodies? This somebody would then probably be Xehanort himself. Or maybe that the Nobody's awakening result in their Somebodies' return? Or perhaps he means that somebody else has the answers, like Eraqus. Who knows.
He smirks for the next part. ]
I am sure he would be very proud of you, Aeleus.
[ Oh yes, he knows his original name. He might have passed by Radiant Garden's once and noted him. Or he might have found out the anagram his name is. Or he might have had a plan for him and the apprentices planned even before possessing Terra. ]

There is always somebody.
[Or, on occasion, something. Answers are always to be found... It just takes searching and the knowledge of how to use those answers.
Unlike Master Xehanort, Lexaeus doesn't smile. He simply clasps his hands together and leans against the table.]
I believe you have the wrong name.
[Bland and simple. He won't deny he is a part of Aeleus, but would one address a hand by the name of its owner? But as the individual, he is 'Lexaeus'. No more, no less.]

I don't think so. Did Ansem speak of psychology with you my boy? A fascinating topic...
[ Especially the psychology of Nobodies. Now Xehanort is only trying to establish a more detailed profile of Lexaeus, to get a better idea of his personality and how to get him to eventually work for him, by asking him useless, annoying pseudo-philosophical questions. He knows the Nobody will probably understand his intentions, and that he probably changed his name only because he became a Nobody, it's taken into account. ]
A few peoples modify their name once they have the occasion to do so, while most don't. In your case it was when you became a Nobody, correct? You could have continued using the name Aeleus... Maybe you were forced to change your name, but here in Splendor, you ( ... )

But like any good student, any proper apprentice to a king, he listens, not saying a word. Just patient.
There are flaws, as far as he is concerned, in all of those options. There are few here who would know or care about Aeleus's past or the experiments that the apprentices did. As for the latter option, he cannot feel shame or guilt.
There are memories, but that is because, to Aeleus, loyalty was something of vast importance. To betray his king was... not an easy thing to do. But the advantages of the past is that it is the past.
Lexaeus will not allow himself to be dragged down by half remembered regret of a man that is as good as dead.]
I do so out of habit. Besides, there is no necessity in changing my name, and it is already known by others.
What point would there be in causing

[ He chuckles. Ah well, it was to be expected. After all, Nobody have no emotions, or at least what they feel is a minimal sensation born from their memories of the emotions. Shame wasn't the predominant emotion in this Nobody, no, it was... ]
But I'll accept that as your excuse my boy.
[ He nods. He knows enough now, he'll need to meet Lexaeus face to face to get something out of him. Video won't make it. ]
I'll let you finish your 'experiments' and interrogate more peoples. I hope to meet you very soon for discussing others fascinating topics.
[ Namely, how to give back his heart to a Nobody. Because he knows it is exactly what Lexaeus aims for, after all, if he were to become a Nobody Xehanort knew that would be how he'd gather every other's nobodies respect and obedience, promising to them all to get their hearts. ]
