[If you happen to be a resident of the Arborn Castle, you may take note of a sweet and delicious scent that wafts down the hall. Inviting and perhaps it will spark your curiosity enough to make you wander from wherever you are, causing you to venture down to the kitchen. There inside is a busy Gilbert Nightray. He's standing at the kitchen counter ( Read more... )

[Upon hearing that knock on the door, he glances at the timer for the cookies. There's about ten minutes left. That's more than enough to answer the door and return before they burn. So this would be Gil taking off down the hall and towards the front double doors. He opens a door and oh hey there~]

Oh, Echo. Come in. Welcome to Arborn castle.

[Opens the door so she can come inside.]

[walks on in.]

Thank you for the invitation, Master Gilbert...

[she catches whiff of the cookies, and directs her attention towards the kitchen. she dare not comment on it though; it's really none of her business to ask. it's probably servants at work anyway.]

Don't mention it. I've been baking cookies for Oz and doing some research about Christmas.

[He gestures for her to follow him as he walks to the kitchen after he closes the door behind her.]

[he was the one cooking? that was a little unexpected. just a little! she follows him to the kitchen, and remembers what he said about the "dimensions."]

A holiday?

[Nodding at her question.]

Ah, yes a very, very special holiday. People really go out of their way for their friends and family. They give gifts, bake cookies and other treats, sing Christmas carols, and a lot of other things.

[He walks back over to the counter and checks the kitchen timer. Still a few minutes left before he needs to take those cookies out of the oven.]

I found a book that tells you all about the holiday and what goes on. Here.

[Picks up the book and walks over to Echo, showing her.]

I-It's actually pretty interesting.

[she gave the book a good look over. this was genuinely interesting--a holiday they didn't have back home! since she celebrated her first festival a while back, she tentatively wondered if she would be able to celebrate this, too. then again, it sounded like this holiday revolved a little too much around friends and family for her own interests...]

To be preparing for it this early, and by baking so many cookies... It looks like a very busy holiday.

I assume during this holiday servants try to please their masters as much as possible too. I'm certain that they also present their masters with gifts and the like. Which is one of the reasons why I've been baking so much and I also put up the decorations.

[He flips through the pages of the book to the section where it talks about giving gifts and on the opposite page it explains about the basis of Christmas itself.]

There's a lot more to it though than just giving gifts. Here, it says the holiday revolves around a historical holy time in which people commemorate the birth of Jesus, the central figure of Christianity.

[ooc: I hope I'm explaining this right/headdesk]

[she tilts her head to the side. she's kind of relieved her master isn't here after all. chances are he would want her to bake him cookies based on impulsive reasoning after hearing about this holiday... or maybe he'd ask Gilbert to. she secretly hopes for the latter should he arrive soon.]

Ah, so it has a deeper meaning after all. [she redirects her attention to one of the trays of cookies.] Are they all for Master Oz?

((ooc: Sounds like you're on the right track. |Dd)))

It has a much deeper meaning. There are also other holidays that revolve around similar historical religious figures. People from different religious backgrounds and everything. Like here it explains about the holiday called Hanukkah that people of the Jewish faith celebrate.

[He continues reading through the book. Very intrigued.]

Their holiday lasts for eight days. But Christmas is only one day. Although people do celebrate things on Christmas eve like have parties and everything. On Christmas day is when people give gifts.

[He stops reading for a moment.]

Yeah, they're for Oz. But I guess he won't be able to eat them all. If he did, he would end up getting sick. So I might just end up sharing them with others.

[ooc: thank you!]

[she skims the visible passages.]

It's too much to be taken in all at once...

[annnnd after hearing about how gluttonous Oz can be, she simply tilts her head to the side]

Echo is unimpressed... He should know better than to indulge on sweets.

[really, she shouldn't speak ill of him, but that was a slip. honest.]

((ooc: <3333!!))

[Blinkblink.]

But on the holidays it's normal to indulge. Everyone here does. They even had something called Halloween here where everyone was eating candy.
