Confusion is on the menu for today

Nov 01, 2010 19:56

Characters: Lexaeus (artof_war ) and Sora (tiny_promise ), plus any of the former's roommates
Where & When: 602 Collodi Street, the morning after the Masquerade
Rating & Why: PG, because Lexaeus isn't that much of a jerk
Summary: In which a small child is kidnapped escorted safely away from the masquerade ball, breakfast is made, queries are hopefully answered, and a Dusk Nobody is very much content if a bit confused.

It had been easy to find the child, which may have been a surprise to most people. However, while he cannot speak for everyone who inhabit this city, he does have something of an advantage. Maybe it was the simple process of being named, maybe because the boy is unique, or maybe because Dusks can be very resourceful, "Penda" had lead him straight to the child. Sora...

Normally, Lexaeus would brush that off as mere coincidence. It is not an uncommon name. What is unusual is for the Dusk to react the way it did.

Things had continued to go on smoothly upon finding him. The boy is still a child, after all, and no matter how much sugar he devoured, only he could last the night so long. In everyone's hurry to leave and the added confusion of masks, it was a simple thing to scoop the boy up in his arms and calmly leave.

After the twists and turns of Castle Oblivion, to have a plan happen so smoothly is almost a relief, even as, at the very same time, it worries him.

As the morning comes, Lexaeus can now be found in the kitchen. Gone is the armor the young woman had crafted for him- it hangs back in the one empty room he had claimed, shining in the morning light. For now, he wears a simple sleeveless shirt and slacks as he stands at the oven. The smell of eggs and bacon wafts through the house- Lexaeus hadn't asked where the Dusk had gotten the ingredients.

As for the Lesser, it had almost immediately twisted back to the child. The Fifth Lord is truly more human than most of the other Numbered, the creature decides as it curls up at the end of the bed in which the Not-Lord sleeps. He had given the boy the bed instead of taking it for his own. Cleverness or memories? The Dusk, possessing neither really, cannot say. All it can do is wait for the child to awake.

lexaeus, sora
