Note to self: procrastination bad.
even if it's procrastination on something that you're not really looking forward to that occurs because you're working really hard on something else of equal importance in a different class that you actually want to be doing, that happens to be due about a week and a half after the thing that you don't want to do.
if that made sense to you, you probably need to take a nap as badly as I do.
I've been in this library for about five and a half hours today.
my biology conference paper is currently as long as the requirement says it should be
but in reality, it's only about halfway complete. two-thirds, if I'm feeling optimistic.
It appears I underestimated the length and complexity of a paper on the biology and evolutionary mechanisms of type A influenzavirus.
on the plus side, halfway complete in this case is five pages, double-spaced.
another five pages is doable, especially as the hard part of the paper is pretty much taken care of.
if halfway complete in this case was my 15-20 page cultures of nature paper, I'd be in big trouble.
[yes, it took me five and a half hours to write a five-page-double-spaced paper. consider for a moment, though, the subject matter, and the fact that the majority of the words in this thing are four or more syllables long, and break the poor spellcheck's brain.
an exerpt: Jutting from the virion’s surface are two different types of glycoprotein - hemagglutinin, a triangular, rod-shaped lectin, and neuraminidase (also known as acetyl-neuraminyl hydrolase), an enzyme whose unusual tertiary structure gives it a distinct “mushroom” shape.
yeah. five pages of that.]
and, to be perfectly honest, I'm actually enjoying writing this bloody thing
in a perverse kind of way.
it's midnight.
I have a conference with Charles Zerner at eight thirty tomorrow morning.
/fires up the Rammstein, Rob Zombie, and 80s rock
/sets brain to *SPLODEY*, reprogramming self to survive on less than four hours of sleep
/drinks about five of those potassium vitamin-water thingys combined with Emergen-C.
Happy Conference Week. [s].
