45 is the new 50

Had my first colonoscopy today. The preparation, while not easy, was easier than advertised. The hard part for me, as usual, was the needle for the IV, the anticipation of the procedure once there. In my mind were too many echoes of the difficult tongue surgery I underwent in February, as well as the echoes of the conversations between other patients and staff while I waited (also happened in February.)

However, as advertised, once the sedative kicked, it was painless and overwith before I knew it.

Procedure was at 10:00, when I came to, the nurse told me it was 10:20.

I felt like a lifetime had passed. Feeling like Picard in "The Inner Light," I thought to myself - "20 minutes?!" I even mumbled the office location the same way Picard said "This is the Enterprise..."

I then told the nurse that I had been dreaming I was in an episode of Abbot Elementary. I said Ava and Jeanine were there. As one might imagine, the nurse had no idea what I was talking about.

A big thanks to Vern for picking me up, staying with, and taking me by Zaxby's (paid for by Mama via card) on the way back! Somewhere in the materials it said to eat light. I'm not sure if Wings and Things is what they had in mind, but it hit the spot!

Also, the result of the procedure were good!
