I hit 100,000 miles today on the F-150. As you can tell, I also needed fuel at the time.
Here is a separate, yet related, entry from my brother's journal over 11 years ago. It's about hitting 60,000 miles, so you (me) will have to do some math to relate it to my current milestone. I doubt you will be able to use the Encarta bot to do so. Anywho:
The Focus flipped over to 60,000 miles the other day, and both factory headlight bulbs are still working. I've replaced the tires twice, though. Is the lifetime of a component inversely proportional to its price?
In any case, I've driven a quarter of the way to the moon. Or that's 1.5 times around the equator if the idea of driving through space doesn't do it for you. Or 8.8 times around the equator of the moon if you want to combine the two.
You can thank Encarta Instant Answers for most of those figures, by the way. Much easier than looking stuff up and using a calculator. If you have MSN Messenger, add encarta@botmetro.net to your contacts. Then you can have conversations like this:
Me: how far is it to the moon
Encarta: On average the distance between the Moon and Earth is 384,403 km.
Me: convert 384403 km to miles
Encarta: 384,403 kilometers are 238,856.95041 miles.
Me: divide 238856 by 60000
Encarta: 238,856 / 60,000 = 3.9809333333333
Me: what is the circumference of the earth
Encarta: World has a equatorial radius of 3,963 mi.
I should note that at this point my original entry contained an error. It also contained an error further up. I have revised history to save face.
