One of the more menial tasks I have at work is booking student recitals. Menial yes, but occasionally it provides me with some entertainment, like this morning ...
I was booking a recital around 10 am, which is around the time when the caffeine really kicks in for me. If I haven't had enough food, I get shaky at best. So I was having a little trouble typing, and as I often do, I decided to apologize ...
---
me - :: spaces out and has trouble typing :: Oh, I'm sorry - I think I've had too much coffee this morning so I'm having a hard time concentrating.
guy - Yeah, I know what you mean, I've had a half-bottle of wine this morning and I'm still asleep, not sure why.
---
Wha? Huh? The guy seemed totally serious. Maybe it's something typical in other cultures that I've just missed out on as an American, but ... wine for breakfast? On a Monday? For real?
Anyway, I am beat but I need to type some praise to the parking gods. For once, I found a parking space on my street. Across from my building, in fact. This rarely happens. Thank you, parking gods, for I really was not in the mood to walk on sheets of ice back to my apartment in my post-weight-lifting state. That is all.
