March 2009 Garden Report
Week of 16th: Cleaned 1/3 of garage bed. Worked on raking backyard. Filled
two containers and two bags.
25th: *Cleaned rock garden. Pulled out all the leaves, pulled or cut all the dead
bits from the daylilys, the heirloom mum, and the balloon and bellflowers. I pruned back the gigantic lemon thyme and the lavenders and reminded myself I need some sort of support for the ballonflowers and bellflowers this year, and plotted out where I need the last few rocks to round it out.
26th: Cleaned porch beds.
28th: *Cleaned front bed. Trimmed back grass on some edges.
*Cleaned out tree bed. Pulled weeds, cleaned out leaves. Planted 6 tulip bulbs around base of tree. Planted one Pirate Red daylily on house side of bed.
*Planted one Pirate Red daylily in rock garden.
*Worked on cleaning back corner bed. Dug out rooted weeds.
31st: Bought pink astilbe (sun/shade, tree bed?), freesia bulbs (full sun - back corner bed), wand flower bulbs(full sun - side bed, backyard fence). Need to find places for them.
