High voltage hilarity

Am (obviously, given my spamity-ness today) back from ConFusion, aka The Con of Awesome. Fantastic weekend, just what I needed, even if I did have a bit of con collapse Sunday evening and got all weirdly maudlin.

Friday: fairmer and I zip off and pick up Lou from the airport and head to lunch, where fairmer gives us a sneak preview of the literary marvel that would end up taking ConFusion by storm. After lunch we take our side trip to Torrid. Sadly, they had sold the last not so tiny Hello Kitty purse of the Patriarchy I'd had my eye on mere hours before I arrived. In transit between Torrid and the con hotel, we create an RPS fandom about ourselves and iuliamentis. Complete with portmanteaus, ship wars and fandom-specific jargon. We are too nerdy for our own good.

Saturday: In the afternoon I stalked Mer through all the panels she was on, and thusly was got to witness the juvenalia panel and its attendant hilarity. In the evening there was the bar, where Mer was called on by the cool kids (Justine Larbalestier, Scott Westerfeld and John Scalzi, among others) to honor them with her manhood while we drunkenly cheered her on and said wistfully that maybe someday we'd be all cool like them, and some group of noobs would be watching us with drunken awe and so on, like an infinity mirror of dorkitude.

I did not drunk dial a phone post to livejournal, largely because two large margaritas and a veeeeery strong whiskey sour make cell phones very complicated items.

Sunday: There was sleeping late, more panel attending, a good lunch and writing talk, and then home.
