I have come to the sad conclusion that there will never be enough time for me to write all the ideas that my brain shunts out. Like the one after the umpteenth viewing of "Gone in 60 Seconds," where Sam Carter is a car thief turned (mostly) honest mechanic who ends up helping Detective Jack O'Neill solve a murder involving one of her former ( Read more... )

My dislike of the physical space is partly why I didn't go to Context this year, after having gone (for the first time) last year. Well, that and my parents visiting from California...

yeah, the space really did not work for me, and magnified what would have been slight irritations with the organization. I have been way spoiled by the hotel space at ConFusion.

*is sad that this will never be written*

There's such a high probability of sex in cars!

(I'm starting to sound like a broken record: "Crack! Smut! Crack! Smut!)

Seriously, though--that is, in my opinion, a great way to tweak their characters without it being out of the realm of possibility.

YES! And Jack would bitch the entire time that an officer of the law should not be having sex in a stolen car with a former felon, but he'd be thinking, "Shit, this is the hottest thing EVAR and oh, god, just like that..." And Sam would be all smug and have a little smudge of grease by the corner of her mouth that would get smeared across her cheek by Jack's thumb when they kissed...

Okay. Maybe I will end up writing this.

I'm writing more Sam/Vala smut for the femslash_today Porn Battle. AND SO SHOULD YOU. *bats eyes*

Shit. I AM BLAMING YOU FOR THIS, TROUT.

Sam and her father had a falling out after her mom died and she ended up in with the wrong crowd. She was arrested for stealing cars, but because her dad was a cop before he died of cancer and his former chief George Hammond called in a few favors on her behalf, she got a reduced sentence. Jack now works for Hammond, who suggested bringing Sam in on the case (she ended up opening her own garage after she got out of prison).

So Jack shows up one day, flashes his badge, and says, "I need you to steal a car."

And OF COURSE George doesn't mention to Jack that Sam Carter is a woman.

I'm with holdouttrout. Sex in cars! Also I am a big gigantic whore for AUs and would read this with glee.

I have gotten to the saturation point of irritation with certain segments of fandom and I'm getting better at not clicking but sometimes my brain insists upon being perverse. Stupid brain.

As I told Jenn below, I think I'm going to give this a try as a serial WIP.

but sometimes my brain insists upon being perverse. Stupid brain.

I KNOW. Bad brains, BAD.

YOU MUST WRITE THIS! I'm a sucker for any story where Sam is a brilliant but good-hearted criminal. Because if she were ever a criminal, she'd be scary good at it and yet still sarcastic and good-natured.

And having Jack as the detective is just the perfect twist.

We need to create glee over the next few months, because SGA fandom and their scary emo angst over Sam is starting to make me very unsympathetic towards the lot of them.

You know, I think I might try writing it as an off-the-cuff ongoing WIP, something fun that I just do when the mood strikes. Otherwise I'll freak out over the need to make it long and plotty and it will never leave my hard drive. :)

I've decided that outside of a very, very tiny circle, I'm avoiding SGA fandom. I'm not reading episode reviews, I'm not reading any Sam on Atlantis meta or commentary, and I'm pretty tempted to avoid fic to. I'm just going to
watch the show and maybe write some Sam and Teyla and Keller friendship fic (as if I didn't have enough ideas to write...).

Also, I still owe you email. Have not forgotten!

I'm totally on board with this idea.

When are you writing the first part? *grins*

I'm having a hard time coming up with a title for this AU. Oh music goddess Jenn, can you suggest some songs I can mine for a title, evocative of a good action-ish, sexy smart-ass story?
